On underground platforms, crowded indoor areas and outlying parts of a wider Japan itinerary, service can be less predictable than around a major transport hub or a busy district. Plan for short gaps in mobile access rather than assuming continuous reception throughout the journey. Before leaving for a longer transfer, save rail tickets, the address of your hotel and the next station exit so that important travel information remains available without a signal.
