Travel with data

A visit to Puerto Rico can bring together San Juan, coastal towns and routes towards El Yunque. During an itinerary that combines city days, longer drives and nature excursions, mobile data is useful for checking a route, confirming a reservation and messaging accommodation. The eSIMGlobe plan gives a compatible, carrier-unlocked phone a digital data connection for the destination shown in the product's Supported Countries field. Having your booking references, directions and messages at hand can make changes of plan easier to manage. It can also help you contact a driver or host when you reach a populated area with service. The advantage is practical: you can prepare the eSIM digitally before travelling, while still keeping your primary physical SIM in your phone. You will need an available network to use mobile data once you arrive.

Coverage and local networks

The experience can change from one part of Puerto Rico to another. The Technical Specs for this product list Claro 4G as the partner network. This describes the network option recorded for the plan, not a promise that every listed technology will be available at every address. Reception and speed depend on the exact location, the available local network, your device and conditions such as terrain or buildings. On forest roads, hilly inland areas and offshore trips, signal can be less predictable than around busier towns or accommodation areas. Do not assume that mobile data will work continuously on a ferry, a dive boat, an isolated trail or a remote stretch of road. Before heading out, save park or tour details, hotel addresses and maps for rural roads so they remain accessible without a connection. The eSIM is useful wherever a compatible partner network provides service; offline information remains a sensible backup for travel days and unexpected changes.

Install before travel

Installation is digital, so you do not need to replace your existing SIM card. Check that your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked before buying, then follow the instructions supplied with your order while you have a stable internet connection. If a one-tap installation link is provided for your device, open it on that phone and follow the prompts. You can also display the supplied QR code on a second screen and scan it using your phone's Add eSIM settings. Keep the order details available if you need to set up the eSIM later. Select the travel eSIM for mobile data according to the plan instructions, and review your primary line's roaming settings if you leave it enabled.

Select your data allowance

Choose a data allowance and validity period from the options displayed for this product, using the full trip as your guide rather than only the first day. Maps, messaging and booking checks normally use less data than streaming, video calls, cloud photo backups or sharing a connection. On an itinerary that combines city days, longer drives and nature excursions, several small checks during each travel day can add up, particularly when you are switching accommodation or coordinating transport. Hotspot is listed as available, so a laptop or another device can share the connection; all devices draw from the same purchased data allowance. Top-ups are marked as available in the product specifications, but the most practical starting point is an allowance that suits how you actually use your phone. Keep a little room for changes to bookings or routes rather than planning to use every last megabyte on arrival.

Number, calls and itinerary

This is a data-only eSIM for Puerto Rico. It does not provide a new telephone number, standard voice minutes or SMS, so keep your primary SIM if you need your usual number for calls or verification codes. Messaging apps and internet-based calls can use the eSIM's data allowance where the apps and local services are available. Before travel, verify that this product explicitly lists every destination on your itinerary; a nearby island or mainland country is not automatically included. For a journey with several stops, check each border or island transfer against the supported destination instead of relying on the regional name. Save essential documents offline, use live data where service is available and check the current plan options before checkout.
